Training Knife Endorsements and Feedback from TAK Knife and Escrima (Kali) Stick Owners and Users
• I got my sticks in on Thursday, and they're awesome! Thanks again! Jonathan T., Canada
• Hi; the TAK Scalpel trainer came Tuesday but I was out of town. Very Nice! The thing that struck me first was the luminous quality of the knife, something that you talk about in your advertising. Funny how even next to an aluminum blade it glows. I agree with your comments about not beating up on your training partner and the pain that an aluminum or wooden knife can impart is a concern, especially if you are teaching young women or kids. A little pain is a good reminder but not getting bruised up and fearful. That only works negatively. • Hello John, The Abaniko Trainers arrived this morning...Will show the trainers at next training of the Swiss CSSD/SC — Modern Arnis group guided by Edessa Ramos. Thanks for the super fast delivery and perfect crafted trainers. Stay safe, Reto H., Switzerland
• I just wanted to drop you a line and tell you I just received my order. I love this knife. I have a few trainers of various sorts. Rubber, wood, etc. And this one is an immediate favorite. I'll definitely be ordering another when I get a chance.
By the way, if you talk to Steve Woodward on a regular basis, tell him Stuart says hello. We used to train together a few years back. He may not remember me, but I'm a Doce Pares eskrima practitioner who used to train with him and Sensei Dan Wilson. Cheers! Stuart B., Alexandria, VA
• From www.FMAtalk.com:
Well, I received my TAK 26" Bodyguard Sticks today and I must say that I am impressed. First off, everyone that knows me knows that I love rattan for partner training and kamagong for individual training. In the past I have owned several varieties of synthetic sticks and really not one of them met up to my standards. The TAK Sticks were simply awesome in feel and similarity in vibrational standards to rattan. The weight felt right and when hitting something the sticks absorbed the right amount of the vibration so that it was comparable to rattan. Here is the real upside, I smacked, banged them against a tire, heavybag, together, rattan, floor and guess what not a dent, ding or scrape. Nothing, these things feel like they are going to last for a long, long, long time. These are great synthetic sticks that really in my opinion are better than any I have tried before.

• Got the sticks and the training knife last week. The sticks are awesome and nearly indestructible. I did just what the website suggested and whacked it against a steel post. The stick took a licking and didn't show any damage. The stick was just a little bent from the force of the strike, but tell ya what, a rattan stick would have splintered. The training knife was a pleasant surprise. Since the material was so thick and well rounded (sanded), it does not catch the skin like the aluminum training knives. The first night I brought it for workout, everyone wanted to know where I got it and how much. I just forwarded them to your website. Thanks for making such quality products! Ed S., Burbank, CA
• I got the tomahawk on Thursday and have been using it since. It's GREAT! Rick D, Pittsburgh, PA
• OK, I've had a couple weeks to play with them now. The weight is just right (TAK Sticks). No shock back to the hands like you said; I can hit as hard as I want. Barry M., Tallahassee, FL

Steven Woodward is the founder and style head of Hontai Ryu Karate Do. He holds the rank of Master in Sayoc Kali under Mike Sayoc and has a 6th degree Black Belt in American Open Karate, a 5th degree Black Belt in Modern Karate, and a 3rd degree Black Belt in Kyokushin Karate.
Master Woodward says, "The introduction of the TAK Training Blades into our classes have dramatically improved the skills of the students. Due to the design of the training blade, there is less impact shock when making contact with your partner. This allows for more aggressive training with advanced students while still providing safety. It's one of the best training tools I've ever used and it would compliment anyone's edged weapons program!"

Master Woodward's teaching skills have produced 34 State Champions, 18 National Champions, 9 World Champions, and 4 Junior Olympic Champions. He currently devotes his own training time to studying the Filipino and Indonesian Martial Arts. He is the featured Martial Artist in the instructional video "Mastering The Whip".

Officer Lewis says, " These are the best training knives I have ever used! They allow for faster speeds and harder strikes without the metal to bone pain from my other training knives. When you train 3 days a week this is critical. The blade finish really catches your eye- just like a live blade."

• I have tried just about every trainer out there and the knives from TAK are best by far. The weight is perfect and they stand up to the punishment we put them through in our adult classes. George D, Owner, Kenpo/Arnis Martial Arts System, Merritt Island, FL
• I was proud to train with your (TAK) knives at a seminar here in Germany. Sven T., Germany
• Just dropping a line to let you know that I got my order and couldn't be happier! James H., High Springs, FL.
• Great (training blade)! ... my favorite training knife! Justin M., Strattanville, PA
• I didn't believe your brag about the sticks but we've been trying to demo(lish) them for 2 weeks now and can only nick them. Even beat the hell out of a tank with them. Tough @$%^ #&@$#!! Sgt. Karl ...., Albuquerque, NM
• I've been using my Combat for 3 weeks; it's the only training blade I use now- great job guys! Want to buy some used aluminum and wooden trainers? Pete W., Seattle, WA
• Here's an order for 3 more (TAK) knives; 2 are for my training buddies. I had to tell them to stop using my (TAK) blade and get their own. You don't mention it in your instructions, but I add lipstick or crayon to the wide edge and it works great for marking drills. Bill M., Houston, TX
• The (TAK) knives are working out good in our school. All new students pick one for their intro. package and they must use the Lanyard during the disarm drills. We broke a mirror last year from a training knife and hopefully this will help prevent this. School withheld upon request.
